Term 5

This term we will be developing our geography skills as we learn about the physical and human geography of the Polar regions. In Science we will continue to learn about plants and will be creating our own botanical illustrations of the plants we find in the school grounds.  In RE we will be making connections between the events of Holy Week, Easter and the celebration of the Eucharist. Towards the end of this term we will be learning about the gift of the Holy Spirit through a study of the conversion of Saint Paul. Please take a look at our Term 5 newletter for more information.

Please note that PE will be continue to be taught on Wednesday and Friday this term. Please take a look at the Gazelle 'What We've Been Up To' page to see some of the learning that has taken place this year.

Reading Books

Each child will be given 2 books to take home and read on a Monday. Books bags should be brought into school on a Friday to enable us to quarantine any books before resending them out the following week. This will enable the rereading of books to develop fluency and comprehension and will enable us to manage any risks associated with Covid-19. When reading with an adult in school, we will be using school books and keeping a separate reading record. Children therefore only need to bring their book bags to school on a Friday.

Spelling Homework

Every child will be given a Spelling Home Learning Book. Spellings are set each week and will be tested every FRIDAY. Any spelling homework should be completed with the learning book being returned to school in the book bag. I will be awarding house points for any spelling homework that has been completed.

PE will take place on a Wednesday and Friday and will take place outside whenever possible. Please send your child to school in their PE kits on these days. They will wear their PE clothes all day. In line with school policy, earrings must be removed for PE lessons.

Exploring the Polar Regions

In this unit we will be exploring the physical and human geographical features of the Polar regions.

In Science we will be investigating plants in our 'Flowers, Fruits and Seeds' unit

Here is a knowledge organiser to help you think about this unit of work.

Here are the spelling lists for Term 5. Please practice your spellings every day in preparation for the spelling test on Friday morning.

In French this term we will be learning about musical instruments - Les instruments. Please see the attached vocabulary list so that you can practice at home.
