Gazelle Class - Year Three

Welcome to Year 3!

The children will be taught by Mrs Johnson with Mrs Rees coming in on Thursdays. Our teaching assisstant is Mrs Watkins.

This year we will experience a new exciting topic every half term. Your child will be totally immersed in the topic, ensuring they have full coverage of the Year 3 curriculum.

At the start of every term we will send out details of the next topic, along with ways in which you can support learning at home.

The yearly overview will give you a brief preview of the exciting units to be covered this year.

Home Learning while our school is closed

This past week has been very strange. I hope that you have enjoyed completing some of the home learning challenges that I put on our class page for you. I look forward to hearing about your achievements when we return to school. I have been making the most of the weather and attempting to train our dogs to fetch a ball, sadly they appear to be more interested in snoozing in the sunshine. I hope that your home learning has been more successful!

I will not be adding any work for you to complete during the Easter holidays (Monday 6th April to Friday 17th April). It will be a very unusual Easter for all of us this year but we can still join together to think about and remember the reason why this is always an important time of year for God's family.

If we are not back in school after the Easter holidays, I will continue to update our class page weekly with new learning ideas for you to try with your families at home. Keep looking after yourselves, I hope that we are back together again soon.

Mrs Johnson

Term 2

Welcome back to our new term, we will be finding out about mountains and volcanoes.

Term 3

Welcome back to another busy term. I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas. This term we will be finding out about life in Britain after the Romans left.

Term 4

Welcome back to another busy term in which we will be exploring the topic of Crime and Punishment. In Science we will be finding out more about the human body, building on our knowledge from Year 2. Our text for this term is The Iron Man by Ted Hughes and we will be using this to inspire our own writing. In Maths we will be learning how to multiply and divide a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number. You can support your child to do this by practising their timetables. In Year 3, we need to have rapid recall of the 3, 4 and 8 times table as well as continung to use the 2, 5 and 10 times tables that we learnt in Year 2. In RE we will be finding out about Jewish places of worship before turning our focus to Lent. We will also be joining with Panda class to prepare an Easter reflection.

The subject knowledge organisers for our Topic and Science units of work will give you more information about what we will be learning this term. Please use them to talk to your child about what we are doing in school.

Here you will also find your child's spelling list for the term. Please help them to practice their spellings at home. Your child can earn house points by handing any spelling home learning in on a Friday.
