Gazelle Class - Year Three

Home Learning while our school is closed

Hello everyone, I hope that you are all continuing to stay safe and well.

I have been making the most of the sunshine but have not enjoyed how cold and windy this past week has been. I hope that you have been able to venture outside while the sun was shining. My dogs still need to be walked, regardless of the weather – see if you can find them out and about in our photo gallery.

I have updated the home learning tasks for week beginning 18th May. I fully appreciate that you will all be in quite different position regarding home learning. Some of you will be choosing to home school daily with a set routine or structure in place. Others (like me), will be juggling home schooling with working from home and other responsibilities. Please adapt my suggestions to suit your specific situation, where possible, try to compete at least one learning activity each day. If you have any queries about the learning on the website, please contact me via Year3@st-edmunds-pri.wilts.sch.uk and I will do my best to support you.

I will aim to update the website on Friday afternoons. If there are any activities or resources that you would like to access after this point, please download them before noon on Friday to avoid disappointment. The website should go live with new learning activities by Monday morning. I won’t be updating the website with new activities for the week beginning 25th May as this is half-term.

I have really enjoyed seeing the photographs of the many activities that the children from Gazelle class have been doing. You are a very creative bunch! If you would like a photo to be included on our class page, please email me at Year3@st-edmunds-pri.wilts.sch.uk. By sending photographs to me at this address, you are giving us permission to publish them on our class webpage under ‘What We’ve Been Up To’. Photographs can be of school work. Crafts, games or activities you’ve enjoyed during this week. If you do not wish for your child’s image to be used, please consider sending pictures of their creations or activities without their face in the frame. This is a lovely way for children to see what their friends have been up to during this time.

Thank you to the parents who have contacted me via email. It was really encouraging to find out about the many different learning activities that the children are enjoying. I would like to catch up with all of you, if you have not sent me an email, please could you do so that I can add you to my contact list. This will enable me to continue supporting you and your child at this difficult time.

Please continue to stay safe and well

Mrs Johnson

Complete the creative writing challenge, this is instead of completing the other daily English activities. This week you will be writing a diary entry describing a character's first week in a new school. Just like previous weeks, I have broken this into 5 steps for you to complete over the course of a week.

Please continue to learn our weekly spellings. I have included some activities to help you.

Get Creative - useful resources

Other useful resources

There are a range of other resources available at this time to support you and your child at home. These are free to access and can be used alongside or instead of the activities I have suggested.

The Oak National Academy  https://www.thenational.academy/ provides daily lessons in English, Maths and other subjects organised by year group. They include quizzes, online tutorials and other activities to support learning at home. The lessons are progressive, so it is advisable to start at lesson 1 within any units you want to use.

BBC Bitesize https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/dailylessons also have a range of daily lessons organised by year group.
