Welcome

to

Saint Edmund's Catholic Primary School

Saint Edmund’s Primary School is more than just a place where children learn to read and write. It is a place where they are nurtured, where their faith is strengthened, and where they are prepared to be thoughtful, compassionate members of society.

The values that Saint Edmund’s instils in its children go beyond academics—they are the values of kindness, respect, and love for one another, rooted in our Christian faith. The school serves as a community hub, connecting families and fostering a sense of belonging among children and parents alike. It’s a place where every child is seen and valued, where their individual gifts are recognised and developed. In a world that can sometimes feel fragmented, Saint Edmund’s stands as a place of unity and shared purpose.

The work of Saint Edmund’s extends far beyond the classroom. These schools lay the foundation for lifelong learning and shape the character of future generations. The education provided here is not just about knowledge but about forming individuals who will go out into the world as ambassadors of our faith, carrying with them the lessons of love and service they’ve learned here.In the broader context, Saint Edmund's is crucial in fostering social cohesion, encouraging civic responsibility, and promoting the common good. We are the first place where children learn to be citizens, to understand their role in the world, and to develop a sense of responsibility towards others.

Saint Edmund’s plays a vital role in this mission, nurturing the young minds and hearts that will one day lead our community and our world.

A Welcome Message from Mrs Salter

Welcome to Saint Edmund’s Catholic Primary School, Calne. I am honoured to be the Headteacher of our faith-filled school in the heart of Calne. Saint Edmund’s Catholic Primary School is committed to providing the best education for all and we offer a creative and high-quality curriculum enabling children to learn and flourish through their work and play.

The school’s namesake, Saint Edmund, knew the importance of prayer, constantly encouraging the faithful, “I would rather say five words devoutly with my heart, than 5,000 which my soul does not relish with affection and intelligence.” It is with this simple approach to our relationship with God, that we encourage all children to strive for their best and be supportive of others in all their endeavours.

The school is surrounded by beautiful wooded and garden areas and the children are inspired by the natural world and are proud to be stewards of their school environment and out into the wider community.

The Friends of Saint Edmund’s (FOSE) is another of the school’s strengths. Not only do they help new families and new staff feel welcome, they also support the school directly. Members of FOSE devote their time to fundraising as well as organising a vibrant programme of events supported by the school staff and FOSE volunteers.

We would be delighted to meet with you and your child, if you would like to find out more about our vibrant, inclusive community. Please take a look around our website and feel free to call the office to book a visit.

God Bless

Mrs Salter

“To live perfectly is to live honourably, lovingly and humbly. Humbly as regards yourself; lovingly towards your neighbour; honourably towards God, so that you may do His will with whole intent.”
