Our Catholic Faith
Our school is a Catholic school with Gospel values at the core of all we do. All members of our school community live by our Catholic ethos and Gospel values. This underpins all we do at our school, from forming relationships to academic achievement and school improvement. Our vision and values are evident in the children's great attitudes towards their learning and everyone's positive relationships with each other in school. Our DCET values underpin everything that we do here. They are: Love, Respect, Resilience, Stewardship, Forgiveness and Curiosity.
Our children live out our mission on a day to day basis. The children show kindness and compassion to those around them and support each other in a range of different situations. Throughout the year we take a range of opportunities to reflect on how we can make a difference to others and make the world a better place to be.
Our Chaplaincy Team
Our school Chaplaincy Team have taken part in many events and activities. They are working on the Live Simply Award, lead Liturgy, organise and support charity events and more throughout school.
Some of the charity work that we have carried is:
- Our annual collection for the Food Bank
- Our annual CAFOD Lent fundraiser
- Emmaus Water Aid Day
- A variety of other charity events throughout the year
As well as wanting to make a positive difference to others through charity work, we also recognise the importance of being active citizens within our community. This supports the children in knowing that one small action can have a positive impact on those around them. In this way, we are following the teachings of Jesus and living as God would want us to.
Our Partnerships
We are proud to be a Catholic school under the Diocese of Clifton and hold the Gospel values at the core of all we do. We are also part of the Emmaus hub, which is made up of primary and secondary school across the Diocese to promote Catholic education and share good practice. These include Saint Louis in Frome, Saint Augustine’s and Saint John’s in Trowbridge, Saint Joseph’s in Devizes, Saint George’s in Warminster, Saint Edward’s in Romsey, Saint Joseph’s and Saint Osmund’s in Salisbury, Saint Mary’s in Shaftesbury, Christ the King in Amesbury and Wardour in Tisbury.
We are proud of the strong links we have with our Parish of Saint Edmund’s in Calne and frequently have parishioners and Fr Vincent in when we can to support enrichment activities, learning or lead worship. FOSE and the parish fundraising committee work closely together to plan events throughout the year for families, parishioners and community members to come together.
