Phonics and Reading

We are proud to announce the launch of our new and exciting Reading Scheme in Key Stage One. Pupils will bring home fully decodable books that match their own phonic knowledge.

The children will be regulary assessed by their class teacher to see how secure they are with the phonemes that they have been taught in class. A detailed record will be kept in school in order for staff to clearly track gaps in the childrens' understanding.

Pupils will not be given books containing graphemes that they are not secure with and the hope is that children will reread texts given to them in order to improve their fluency and use of expression.

Please find attached a video of the Reading Presentation led by Sarah Jerman, which took place on Wednesday 5th February.

Thank you for your continued support! I hope you enjoy the new books!
