Gazelle - What We've Been Up To
Take a look at some of the exciting learning activities that have taken place in Gazelle class.
Term 1
This term we thought about the world we would like to live in and made a pledge to recycle more paper in the classroom. We thought about those less fortunate and collected food for the local food bank. We worked in small groups to investigate building step pyramids in history. We enjoyed taking part in Tagtiv8 and using the playground to explore how big the Sphinx is. We discovered that it is too big to fit on the playground! During Black History month we found out about the life of Mary Seacole and learnt about the importance of perseverance when faced with setbacks. We decorated the classroom with yellow paper chains during well-being week and liked them so much that they are still decorating the room and making us smile. We can't wait for Term 2!

Term 2
We have enjoyed another busy term in Gazelle class. The children investigated different ways to filter dirty water to make it clean before finding out about CAFOD projects which do this in other countries. We planned and carried out a range of investigations to develop our understanding of magnets and forces. We continued finding out about the Ancient Egyptians, the children were fascinated by the idea of the Afterlife and The Weighing of the Heart Ceremony. In maths we learnt about remainders and started to use mulitplication facts to problem solve. In RE we reflected on the inspiriation that we can find through Mary as we journeyed with her through Advent. Our Christmas preparation finished with us designing and making our own felt hanging tree decorations.
